Several configurations exist within the developed countries: the tax and monetary mission of the Treasury concerns in general the Ministry for finances. The administration of the Treasury can also be organized in an autonomous way within the government, beside a minister responsible for the economic policy.

For example, the ministerial position of (in) was created into 1966 within the Canadian government. (In), which brings together the most important ministers, implements the fiscal policy of the Canadian government and also has a role of control of expense. It was integrated into the Ministry for finances before 1966.

The Département of the Treasury of the United States has as a function to meet the tax and monetary needs for the Federal state. It chapeaute in particular American tax department, called Internal Returned Service (IRS). The department is directed by the Secretary with the Treasury.

At the United Kingdom, it (in) implements the economic policy and financial British government, but depends on the Chancellor of the Exchequer, one of the most important ministers.

The tax and financial missions of the Treasury depend in general on the Minister for the Budget, which perhaps either of equal row, or subordinated to the Minister for Finance (deputy secretary or Secretary of State).

French administrations

Two French administrations share name Trésor . The network of the Treasury

Direction of the Treasury

The direction of the Treasury is old and prestigious direction of staff, distinct from the Treasury, which was amalgamated into 2004 within the Head office of the Treasury and the economic policy (DGTPE). The DGTPE depends from now on Ministère on the Economy, Finances and Employment. The direction is in charge of the control of the economic policy and the defense of the economic interests and financial with France in the world. The “Treasury” manages in particular the treasury of the State, deposited on a single account opened with the Banque de France, and the national Debt (by the means of the Agence France Treasure). It emits for this purpose of the Government loans, goods and Treasury bonds (for example, BTF, BTAN and OAT).

The Treasury exerts also a limited but real action of monetary creation. It is in charge of the emission of the token coinage (coins). For this reason, it receives Central bank the exchange-value of the coins struck under its authority.
