The Trance is a kind of Electronic music whose origin goes back to the sources of the Techno and of the House. It is characterized by a systematic search for melody lines repetitive and planing.

The spirit of this music comes owing to the fact that the music and the dance can deteriorate the sensory perception of the listener and transport it in a state of extase hypnotic and méditative, the Transe (direction first of trance in English).

The origin of the word trance remains ambiguous and of the suggestions make state that the term can derive from the album Trancefer of Klaus Schulze or of the project Dance 2 Trance .

The title The Age off Coils, left in 1990, is generally regarded as the first piece of trance and was used as a basis for the German scene trance of the Années 1990. Francfort-sur-le-Main (Germany) is often quoted like the birthplace of the trance. Like witnesses of the Frankfurter Trance Sound , one finds in particular Sven Väth or DJ Dag which collaborates with Jam El Mar on Dance 2 Trance.

In Frankfurt, the Frankfurter Trance Sound is with the Dorian Gray , a club of reputation. With the type-setter Torsten Stenzel, it finds a way towards marketing. But the trance is not exclusive at a city. At the same time, another movement of trance develops with Berlin around artists such as Paul van Dyk.

After a few years of gestation in Germany, the trance will evolve/move in Great Britain, in Belgium, with the Netherlands and in Suisse before extending to all Europe. Among his famous DJ, one will quote Paul Oakenfold, DJ Tiësto, DJ Sasha.

One can also quote like current great names of the world scene Trance (see complete listing below): Paul van Dyk, Armin van Buuren, DJ Tiësto, Ferry Corsten, DJ Tatana, Johan Gielen, Judge Jules and Above & Beyond.

Today the scene Trance, in particular that known as " Classic Trance" , general practitioner and surface, blows himself. However, an other kind of Trance, much more underground and different from original, born with beginning of the year 90, meeting enters the hippies and the djs resulting from vagueness Acid house on the beaches of Goa (India), perdure under the names of Trance-Goa or Trance psychedelic with artists or djs-type-setters like Hallucinogen, Astral Projection, Infected Mushroom, Man With No Name…
