The edition 1988 of the Tournoi of Cincinnati was held 15 with the August 21st and saw the victory of Swedish Mats Wilander with the costs of her compatriot Stefan Edberg. Wilander thus gained its 30ème title over the circuit ATP, the 4ème of its career in Cincinnati.
