Tourist Order of Merit

Created by decree dated May 27th 1949 in France, the tourist Ordre of Merit had the role to reward the people having rendered eminent services with the cause for tourism and having contributed to its development both in France and abroad.

The Order comprised three classes: Knight, Officer and Commander and his management were ensured by the Minister for Tourism, assisted of the Council of the Order including/understanding ten members, all Commanders of right.

The jewel is to the decorator and to craftsman in wrought iron Poillerat.

It was replaced by the National order of the Merit.
