Tomb Raider Editor Level
The official editor of levels
Certain fans of the series Tomb Raider for a long time claimed the provision of an editor of levels. It was thing made with Tomb Raider V: On the traces of Lara Croft (November 2000). Rather disappointing Opus but which proposed finally the so much awaited tool (in the form of one 2nd CD).Many amateurs then launched out in the creation of personal levels. It acts is levels " solitaires" , that is to say of a succession of levels proposing a true adventure. The quality of these creations is of course unequal but it should be noted that some of them do not have great a deal to envy the official play.
The nonofficial editor of levels
Before that, an editor of levels had been developed already by a fan known under the pseudonym of Turbo Pascal. This software knew several evolutions. Initially in 2D, it quickly evolved to the 3D then adapted to the formats of the successive opus. In other words, this editor allows to create additional levels for Tomb Raider I , II , III , IV and V . A small community constituted itself around this project, giving birth of course to levels, but also to software allowing to manage textures, the items, scripts, etcIt should be specified that this nonofficial editor of levels profited forever from the support of Core Design and Eidos (respectively developer and editor of Tomb Raider ). On the contrary, the tendency was rather with the hostility at one time when " papas" of Lara Croft inlassablement pursued all that could resemble, near or by far, with a recovery or a diversion of their heroin-fetish. Especially, this nonofficial editor requires the installation of achievable a cracké in order to be able to charge with the levels starting from the hard drive, and not with CD (as it is the case for the five first opus where only the achievable one and some rare files are installed on hard drive). However, the use of achievable modified is illegal. In this precise case, this problem can be nevertheless solved by using the achievable one provided with the demonstrations of the play, conceived to recover the files of the levels on the hard drive.
Compatibility
These two editors of levels are incompatible with the last three opus of the series: Tomb Raider VI: the Angel of Darkness , Tomb Raider Legend and Tomb Raider Anniversary . No editor of levels is currently diffused for these episodes.
