Toltèques

The Toltèques (comes from the Nahuatl and appoints “main builders”) were people which especially lived between 1000 and 1300 after JC around their capital Tula close to Teotihuacán to the Mexico. The Aztèque S will want to be their successors. Toltèques originate in people soldier-nomad which gathered also the ancestors of Chichimèques. These people plundered Teotihuacán besides about year 750. He then sédentarisé himself.

They were established on the central plate (in the zone which recover today the Mexican States of Tlaxcala, Hidalgo, Mexico City, Morelos and Puebla). A military caste, replacing that religious, controlled the company.

Their capital, Tula, are conquered by the Chichimèques in 1168.

Ceramics of Mayapán and Matlazinca still uses their symbolic system. Ceramics toltèques, famous, was found in places distant from their territory as to the Costa Rica.

In the legends nahuatl, Toltèques are supposed being at the origin of any civilization (this is why they are appointed artists or main builders). The Aztec ones, to affirm their superiority, were thus claimed their descendants.
