Tipcart

  • the tipcart is the name given to the horse-drawn Véhicule, generally agricultural, intended to transport a material in bulk: ground, straw, manure, rubble. Its characteristic is that the case can rock backwards to empty the loading. From there the name comes, of the verb to fall , with the old direction to rock .

  • By extension, a Gondola car is a railway Véhicule also intended for transport in bulk. It consists of an open case out of wooden or sheet, bâchable or not, to 2 Essieu X or Bogie S.

The term tipcart ( dumper in English) is used in Québécois to indicate a machine of building site, or career, comprising a bucket assembled on a frame. It is also used in France, but the term dumper is also often used.

One can classify them in three categories:

  • machines of small size;
  • articulated tipcarts;
  • rigid tipcarts.

Machines of small size

The simplest model is the Brouette

Articulated

In this category, the machine is composed of two parts:

  • the tractor, comprising the machine parts: engine, hydraulic pumps, cooling system, etc This part rests on only one bridge, therefore two wheels only. It is thus not autonomous, one thus cannot the désacoupler of the frame-bucket.
  • the frame comprising the bucket, part postpones machine. It rests on one (very small sizes) or two bridges (generally).
These two parts are assembled by a horizontal pivot and two hydraulic actuating cylinders, those being used as managements.

In general, the wheels (generally six) are all driving. These machines have a payload variables according to the models: generally from 25 to 40 tons, except for small sizes (Box, New Holland) and of the Beautiful B50D and Deere D500 (50 tons). Their use is variable: roadway systems (payload of 20 and 25 tons), earthworks and transport in careers (35 and 40 tons of payload).

The rigid ones

Large tipcart with four wheels for transport in career or in the mine S with open sky. The payload can reach three hundred and sixty tons for the Liebherr T 282B.
