Timothée (Christian)
Timothée is a companion of the apostle Paul at the time of his voyages missionaries; Paul would have instituted it bishop of Éphèse. Festival the January 26th in Occident and the January 22nd in the East.
“What you heard of my mouth in front of many witnesses, entrusts it in your turn with faithful men who are ready to teach” (Paul with Timothée: 2 Tm 2,2) Timothée, that Paul calls “his truth wire in the faith” was born in minor Asia from a Greek father and a Jewish mother. Converted at the time of the first mission of Paul, he becomes his disciple and his faithful collaborator. To make it accept Jews and Judeo-Christians, Paul does it circoncire. Timothée shares the first captivity of Paul who, at the time of his second captivity, still claims it. According to the tradition, Timothée would have died bishop of Éphèse.
Timothée is regarded as a Saint by the Catholic church and the orthodoxe Église which celebrates it on different dates. The Church in Occident celebrates it the January 26th with Tite as very expensive disciples of Paul de Tarse which entrusts to them the episcopal load in the incipient Church.
The name “Timothée” means “which honors God. ”
