Tim Kaine
Timothy Michael Kaine (born in 1957), is an American politician, member of the Democratic party, lieutenant governor of Virginia. He was elected at the end of an impassioned campaign governor of the State of Virginia the November 8th 2005 maintaining the tradition which wants that Virginia is equipped political governors of camps opposed to that which sits at the White House.
Catholic practitioner, married with the judge Anne Holton, girl of A. Linwood Holton Jr, former governor of Virginia, Tim Kaine is father of three children.
Studies and career
After studies at the university of Missouri and the school of right of Harvard, Tim Kaine works then during a year in a catholic mission of the Honduras.
Lawyer talented, Kaine enters in policy and is elected at the municipal council of Richmond, the capital of Virginia, from which it becomes the Maire (elected by the municipal council) in 1998.
Political career
In 2001, Kaine is elected 39e lieutenant-governor of Virginia with 50% of the voices compared with 48% with the republican Jay Katzen.
It takes up duty in January 2002 and, from its function, becomes the president of the Senate of Virginia (the 2 rooms are controlled by the republicans).
The countryside of 2005 for the post of governor
In 2005, Kaine became the democratic candidate to succeed the governor Mark Warner.
The countryside is impassioned and polluted by the national policy. Nevertheless, it reaches its paroxysm during televised debates where Kaine, catholic practitioner, declare themselves hostile with the Capital punishment for religious reasons but add that its religious beliefs would not prevent it from applying the capital punishment in a State where the voters are more favorable there. Thereafter, he swears that to in no case, he would not seek to modify or to interfere in the policy of the State as regards capital punishment and that he would not grant more to grace only the preceding governors. Its electoral program is then reinforced proposals in favor of the hardening of the penal matter legislation to widen the field of application of the capital punishment. Its republican adversary, Jerry Kilgore, however believe to detect the weak point of Kaine and lance of the spots TV where Kaine is shown not to support the capital punishment for criminals as Adolf Hitler (Kaine will be long in being defended).
The November 8th 2005, Kaine is finally elected with 51% of the votes compared with 46% with Jerry Kilgore and 2% with the Republican senator of the State and independent candidate Russ Potts. It took up duty the January 14th 2006.
