Geography

SITUATION - ORIGIN:

The village of Théding is located on the calcareous plate which overhangs the sandy depression of the Warndt. On the basis of this depression, in Cocheren, one goes up by the valley of Wimbrunnen, of 80 m, until the source of this brook, which was, inter alia causes, at the origin of the creation of the village. Once arrived at the village, one realizes that it is nested with the foot of the Mount of Théding, which is the second culminating point of the area, with 378 m, after Kelsberg d' Oeting which culminates to 387 m of altitude.

One will include/understand easily interest that it there has for inhabitants of Théding, with to be thus protected from winds from North by this hill, which offers to them its southern side whose exposure allowed, until last century, the exploitation of a local vineyard.

Today, Théding enjoys a situation privileged compared to the urban centres gravitational, namely SAINT-AVOLD, FORBACH, SARREGUEMINES and FREYMING-MERLEBACH apart 13 km at the maximum.

Théding is crossed by two secondary roads: - the C.D. 30, or road of the ponds, which is borrowed by all the agglomeration forbachoise and the population of the Saar wishing to go to the ponds of the Maginot line; - the C.D. 910, old downgraded main road, which connects SAINT-AVOLD to SARREGUEMINES. Lastly, thanks to the strap of FAREBERSVILLER, Thédingeois are to 2,5 km of the highway of METZ-STRASBOURG.
