Thierry Sabine

Thierry Sabine (June 13rd 1949, Neuilly-sur-Seine - January 14th 1986 in Mali) is one of the founders of the rally Paris-Dakar.

It had started by creating in 1975 the Enduro of Touquet, regional competition which, with the passing of years had taken a gigantic development. This competition open to all, had become an international event which was used for Thierry Sabine like model for the Paris-Dakar.

He died in the evening of the January 14th 1986, with the French singer Daniel Balavoine, the journalist Nathaly Odent, the pilot of the helicopter François-Xavier Bagnoud and the technician radio operator Jean-Paul Fur, after the Hélicoptère struck a dune in a sandstorm in Gourma, with the Mali.
