Thierry Jordan

French man of the church, Thierry Jordan is archbishop of Rheims since on Tuesday, July 20, 1999. He took possession of his load on September 26th, 1999. He succeeded thus Mgr Gerard Defois, named Archbishop-bishop of Lille on July 2nd, 1998.

Thierry Romain Camille Jordan was born on August 31st, 1943 in Chang-Hai (China). Wire of Pierre Jordan, tallies financial, and of Mrs., born Henriette Roquebert. After the college Shakes in Versailles, it enters to the great seminar of Versailles then to the catholic Institute of Paris. It is ordered priest on December 17th, 1966 for the diocese of Versailles before being sent to Rome at the Institute of spirituality of the Gregorian University where it obtains a canonical license of theology.

June 3rd, 1986, the Jordan Father becomes general vicar of the diocese of Versailles while preserving the responsibility for the zone of Saint-Quentin in Yvelines. October 6th, 1987, Mgr Jordan is named bishop coadjutor of Mgr Andre Rousset, bishop of Pontoise. It is ordered bishop with the Saint-Maclou cathedral of Pontoise on December 13rd, 1987 and succeeds Mgr Rousset on November 19th, 1988.

  • Member of the episcopal Commission of the consecrated life (1987-1996) of which he became the president in 1993. It took part in the synod of the bishops on the consecrated life (Rome, October 1994)
  • President of the canonical Committee (1990-2004)
  • Member of the episcopal Commission of the ordered ministries.
