Theodore Racing
Theodore was a stable of automobile race rested by the billionaire of HongKong Theodore " Teddy" Yip. Theodore took part in the championship of the world of Formule 1 in 1978 then of 1981 with 1983, disputing 34 GP. Theodore registered a total of 2 points. Its best classification with the championship manufacturer is one 12th place in 1981 and 1982.
History
Teddy Yip enters the world of the automobile competition by injecting funds in the stable Ensign of his/her friend " Mo" Nunn. When Ensign is with most badly, in 1974, one year after its rise in F1, Yip makes it possible the stable to find a new breath and to continue the adventure. Yip finances also Ensign de Formule 5000, controlled by Patrick Tambay, at the time of the season 1977. Following the enough good performances of " its almost écurie" , Yip then decides to only launch out in F1 in 1978. Committed Theodore TR1 is not other than the project Ralt - fallen through F1 of Ron Tauranac. The single-seater is entrusted to Eddie Cheever which does not manage to qualify it and is then replaced by Keke Rosberg. Out-championship, Rosberg gains BRDC International Trophy organized by British Racing Drivers Club over the layout of Silverstone. But in championship of the world, Rosberg does not do better than its predecessor, the car being too heavy for the Cosworth: it is qualified only once, in 24e position and Theodore leaves temporarily F1.Theodore makes his return in the discipline queen later three years. The new TY01 is conceived by Tony Southgate, ex- Shadow and ex- Arrows. The single-seater is entrusted to Patrick Tambay who succeeds in the exploit to register a point at the time of the first GP. The hopes of Tambay quickly will be erased in front of the bad results. It leaves Theodore for Ligier and is replaced by Marc Surer, " prêté" by Mo Nunn.
In 1982, the sums of money of Yip do not suffice for dépétrer its stable to its money worries and it is obliged to recruit paying pilots to supplement his budget. Southgate develops a little the TY01 which becomes TY02 but is hardly more powerful. Southgate then leaves the stable which will not mark any point.
In 1983, Yip repurchases with " Mo" Nunn its N181 frames when this one leaves F1, for lack of means. Nigel Bennett the update and designs Theodore N183, entrusted to Roberto Guerrero and Johnny Cecotto. Cecotto gives again a little hope to the stable when it finishes 6th with Beach Length. This point, the second of the stable in championship of the world of F1, will be the last. Theodore Yip does not want to finance with dead loss stable any more and leaves the world of F1 after the GP of Europe, one year only after his friend Nunn.

Teddy Yip, originating in Hong-Kong had made fortune thanks to the trade in the " zones franches" from Hong-Kong and Macao. He considered of his duty to engage each year at least a single-seater to dispute GP of Formula 3. In 1983, he entrusts Ralt Toyota to Ayrton Senna which will carry out the hat trick, pole, better turn in race and victory.
