The known as one of the countryside of Igor

says It Campaign of Igor or Known as of Ost d' Igor ( Russian СловоополкуИгореве in ) is oldest known Russian literary work, dating from the end of the 12th century. It is about a Poème epic whose subject is based on actual facts, a military campaign carried out in 1185 by Igor Sviatoslavitch, prince of Novgorod-Severski against the Coumans and who showed a failure. The manuscript of work was discovered in the monastery of the Transfiguration of the Saver (Spasso-Préobrajenski) of Iaroslavl at the end of the 18th century. Preserved in the library of a collector, the original burned at the time of the fire of Moscow of 1812 and only the edition of 1800 and copies it made in 1795 for the empress Catherine II were preserved, which leads some to doubt the authenticity of the writing.

This work is without any doubt at the origin of the opera the Prince Igor of Alexandre Borodine.

Work is quoted in Had of Dostoïevski (Chap. II (VII)) like subject of a nearest lesson of Stephan Trophimovitch.
