The Cave is an opera Multimédia in three acts of Steve Reich and his wife, the vidéaste Beryl Korot of 1993. Its first world was given in 1994 by the Steve Reich Ensemble directed by Paul Hillier.
This work is a triptych around the religious questions about the origins of the central figures of the Old Testament. Steve Reich and Beryl Korot raise the questions: Who is Abraham? Who is Sarah? Who is Ismaël? successively in Israëlien, a Palestinian, and an American, on the holy place common to the three religions of the Book, Jerusalem.
