the Saint-Benoit-on-Loire is a common French, located in the department of the Loiret and the area Center.

Geography

The village is located on northern bank of the the Loire, between the Châteauneuf-on-Loire and Gien.

Administration

The Saint-Benoit-on-Loire, like all the communes of the Canton of the Ouzouer-on-Loire, was attached to old the Arrondissement of Gien, removed in 1926 during the recutting of the districts and ever reconstituted.

Fall from max Jacob

The body of the poet was transferred in accordance with his will from Drancy to the Saint-Benoit-on-Loire in 1949. In 1950, the sculptor Rene Iché accepted that one uses the portrait of max Jacob which it had carried out in 1935 to decorate fall it from his friend.
