Geography

History

The city holds its name of the church Our-Lady-the-Rich person of Turns (in the past called Our-Lady-the-Poor Église of Turns), old separate suburb of its core by the construction of the modern enclosure of fortification in the middle of the 17th century; the city thus draws its name from a religious building which is not on its territory (the case is identical to the east of Tours with Saint-Pierre-of-Body and to north with Saint-Symphorien).

In 1787, the commune takes the Game preserve-of-The-Rich person name. At the 19th century one cultivates there especially the Chanvre and the cereals, then, benefitting from qualities of the ground, the cultures become mainly market-gardening.

The Rich person was not saved by the wars: occupied three months by the Prussian in 1870 and especially bombarded with nine recoveries between June and August 1944.
