The Kiss of the fairy
the Kiss of the fairy ( The Fairy' S KIS ) is a Ballet in four scenes of which the music was composed by Igor Stravinski.
Taking as a starting point the Tale of Andersen the Queen of snows , Stravinski made of it a homage to Tchaïkovski, borrowing topics from the early works of the type-setter.
Choreography by Bronislava Nijinska, the ballet is created with the Opéra of Paris on November 27th 1928. The decorations and costumes are of Alexandre Benois and the principal interpreters are Ida Rubinstein, Anatole Vilzak and Ludmila Schollar.
Work knew several successive versions, of which those of George Balanchine (1937), John Neumeier (1972) and Maurice Béjart (1985).
