Comments
A first adaptation of the novel of Dashiell Hammett had been turned in 1935 by Franck Tuttle. The version of Stuart Heisler is generally regarded as the best; Akira Kurosawa would have stated to be inspired about it for its film Yojimbo (Bodyguard, 1961).
