NAVAL HOSPITAL OF BETHESDA, MARYLAND
Mulder puts forth the assumption of a " torsion of the temps" and the business attaches to the Experiment of Philadelphia: a military project aiming at making the ships invisible to the radar. The project was given up and the researchers sent to Los Alamos. But according to Mulder, none of them arrived at Los Alamos - they were sent to Roswell, Nouveau Mexico. Less than nine months after the alleged crash landing of an UFO with Roswell, ship USS Eldridge disappeared in the roads from Philadelphia, to reappear a few minutes later with Norfolk, Virginia, with several kilometers of its starting point. Mulder supposes that this research of the army led to a handling of temporal pits and that the last ship would have been victim. Without warning Skinner, Mulder leaves for Norway, accompanied by Scully.

ZONE OF DISAPPEARANCES, OFF NORWAY
The second of Trondheim is found died, struck with the head whereas it tried to see whether it could give the machines on the way. While tracking the culprit, Mulder falls on an old man: the Barclay Captain, ordering Burning USS. The captain tells them that after the loss of their navigation system, the USS Ardent was stopped in the fog. The crew saw an increasing light around them and the ship started to bleed. The men started to undergo a waste of time. It is 35 years old and appears 90 of them.
It appears obvious that the Barclay captain is too weak to have killed the second. The attacker appears again in the small hour, by attacking Trondheim whereas it jettait the body with the sea. But Mulder neutralizes it before it could kill Trondheim and must intervene to prevent this one from avenging its second. The man is called Olafssen. He is famous in the corner like pirate of whales, sought by the police force to provide whales and cachalots to the black-market. He speaks to them only in Norwegian and miraculeusement seems to be saved by the acceleration of time. According to the log book, four Norwegian sailors were collected on board. Trondheim thinks that they are the three different ones which left with its trawler. Barclay dies during the incident, changed into salt statue in a few minutes.
After a few hours passed on board, the effect is felt: Mulder, Scully and Trondheim start to age at sight of eye… but Olafsen remains always saved. Scully does not believe in the acceleration of time, it puts forth the assumption rather that the meteor represents a metal mass charged contrary to that with the ship. The ocean would play the part of a gigantic ship and the result would be a catalysis between the two. The free radicals concentrated around them by this effect of catalysis would attack their organization by causing the oxidation of the cells - what gives an effect similar to ageing. When Trondheim invites them to show them a running out bleeding of the hull of the ship, Mulder notes that it is only of the rust mixed with water and that the drain which contains this water is preserved rust. Accompanied by Scully, he undertakes to follow the drain until his source: a fresh water reserve of the system of recycling of the engines. During this time, Olafsen manages to convince Trondheim to release it, to reveal to him as there made to remain saved by ageing. Once with the current, it kills Olafsen and claims that this one is escaped during its sleep.

REPORT/RATIO OF AGENT SCULLY
Continuous analysis of urines of Mulder to indicate that its kidneys do not manage to excrete the substance that I will call Heavy Salt. The not polluted water taken in the system of recycling the assistance to go up the slope, that is not obvious.
The only obvious thing, it is that it is not question only I renonce."
Scully surprises Trondheim draining the system of recycling, cut off in the tank to keep all water for him. It then makes the turn of the boat to find the thin water remainders: sardine juice, a lemon half-dozen and the water of a sphere of false snow. Mulder refuses to drink this liquid and to deprive Scully of a chance of survival. An abrupt blow against the hull to solve the question - the bottle containing the liquid breaks and Trondheim perishes drowned in the tank of recycling, carried by a water way in the hull.

REPORT/RATIO OF AGENT SCULLY, 14 HOURS LATER
Among the businesses of Alvorsen, I discovered a telling book of children of the Scandinavian legends. Several images describe the end of the world; not like a storm of fire sudden and apocalyptic, like the Bible teaches it to us, but under that of a cover of snow recovering the Earth slowly. Initially the Moon and the Stars will disappear in a thick white fog, then the rivers, the lakes and the oceans will be taken by the ices, and finally a wolf named Knol will open its jaws and will swallow the sun while the universe will sink in one night eternal.
It already seems to me to hear the wolf behind the door…
Little time after these last notes, a rescue squad of the Navy finds the two agents. They are placed under dialysis and are saved by a treatment carried out starting from the notes of Scully found with them.
The USS Ardent hardly sank one hour after their rescue.
