the Factory is French a cartoon film company Cevennes, located at Saint-Laurent-the-Mining in the Gard.

The Factory was founded in 1984, in the form of association, it became a production company in 1987, and produced films of authors, films of television, courts and feature-length films.

All started when Jean-François Laguionie, realizer of court-measurings of animation, of which the Crossing of the Atlantic to the oar , with found while walking along a water court an old workshop of winding of silk wire. It settled there to begin, with some friends, the realization of the feature film: Gwen or the Book of Sands .

In 1995 began the realization from a second feature-length film: the Castle of the monkeys .

This company is also at the base of the series in Papier cut out Princes and princesses of Michel Ocelot, the realizer of Kirikou and the Witch .
