Synopsis
Stephan Blanchon, professor in Switzerland, carry out a quiet life with his Christine wife. They place an American young person on their premises, Belle. One evening, during an absence of Christine, whereas Stephan works at the ground floor, Belle is strangled in its room of the first stage. During the survey carried out by an examining magistrate and a young police officer, the evidence seems to accumulate against Stephan who is soon openly marked by the judge to have killed Belle. Christine it even seems to suspect her husband and the public opinion is also turned against him. Only the police officer grows with the innocence of Stephan. The investigation makes discover that Belle loved Stephan in secrecy. After a interrogation, it is released. Instead of returning at his place, it runs the bars of Geneva where it meets a discharged fast liver who points out his father to him. Drunk, tried by a vulgar and weak woman, secretary of the examining magistrate, obsessed by the unjustified charges which weigh against him, it agrees to live a short adventure.
