The Bertha Gross (newspaper)
the Gross Bertha was a Hebdomadaire Satirique French created in 1990 in opposition to the Guerre of the Gulf. Its publication director was Jean-Cyrille Godefroy.
The editorial team included/understood humorists as Philippe Val (which assumed then the post of editor association), Kafka or Jean-Jacques Peroni, as well as the old ones of Charlie-Hebdo like Cabu and Georges Wolinski.
The newspaper undergoes in 1992 a scission on behalf of part of its drafting, Philippe Val involving Cabu and part of the other collaborators and draftsmen to reform Charlie-Hebdo . The Bertha Gross disappears a little later in spite of an attempt to find a new tone.
In 1999, at the time of the War of Kosovo and under the impulse of the collective “ Not to the war ”, Jean-Cyrille Godefroy makes reappear the newspaper the time of an special issue. That caused a polemic because certain members of the collective such Laurent Ozon and Charles Champetier belonged to the Nouvelle Right-hand side.
