the Alsatian ones or both Mathilde is a French telefilm of Michel Favart diffused the October 11th 1996 in 4 90 minutes episodes each one, which recalls the turbid period that knew the Alsace-Lorraine between 1870 and 1953.

Synopsis

First episode: 1870-1894

Whereas Mathilde, girl of the industrialist and baron d' Empire Eugene-Victor Kempf, have just married the count Charles of the Tower, the Franco-German Guerre of 1870 bursts and her young husband is called up for the French military service. A little later he dies in the field of honor, while the Alsace is annexed to the German Empire. Mathilde of the Tower then decides to remain in Alsace and to keep its French identity savagely. It will have a fore-mentioned son Louis (in reference to the Kings de France) of sound short marriage with Charles of the Tower, which grows in Alsace become German. Its bilingualism and the fact that it does not reject the German culture violently as his mother poses problems with this one.

The episode finishes in 1894: the Alsace is always German while Louis studies the right to Strasbourg and éprend of the girl of the Prussian general von Wismar-Marbach, Frederike.

Second episode: 1904-1919

The Kempf grandfather dies in 1904.

Louis of the Tower decides to marry Frederike against the opinion of his mother who rejects it because of her nationality, and of which it has two wire, Karl and Edouard. Third episode: 1927-1940

After promisehaving promised it with his Mathilde grandmother on his bed of death, Edouard Kempf-to the Tower marries Alexandra in 1927. They will have two children: Louis-Charles and Pauline. This one is the narrator who, nowadays, recalls us the family saga.

Albert Laugel, the grandson of the landlord of Alsheim, made studies thanks to the assistance of the Mathilde countess and became doctor. Previously, in 1917, refusing to be enlisted by the Germans, Albert Laugel passed clandestinely to France with Edouard and fought in the French Army. On its return, he became mayor, catholic deputy, and married an orphan young person, Kathel.

Fourth episode: 1943-1953

Under German terror, the Alsace saw its most tragic hours. In 1943, Albert Laugel became the chief of Resistance in Alsace, under the pseudonym of Kellerman.
