Telex
The Belgian group of music Telex was created in 1978 by Marc Moulin, daN Lacksman and Michel Moers, being at the beginning only one hoax. Mixing the esthetics of the Disco music, punk and the experiments of the Electronic music, they left a recovery minimalist " Twist in Saint-Tropez " Wildcats.
They connected with a slowed down resumption of Rock around the clock , a disillusioned resumption of the tube of Plastic Bertrand that planes for me , and a mechanical resumption of " Dance to the Music", of Sly Stone.
The title Moskow Diskow left in 1979 and its English version ensures a strong notoriety abroad to them.
Like Kraftwerk, Telex exclusively built its music by using electronic instruments and sometimes of Vocoder, and the two groups were regularly brought closer. However, Telex always developed an irreverent humor and schoolkid, opposed to the Germanic and cold irony of Kraftwerk.
In 1980, their manager required of them to take part in the Concours Eurovision of the song. They took part in it, interpreting the song " Eurovision" , voluntarily positive and ironic.
The public itself did not know too much how to react to this performance, and a silence followed interpretation. One of members of the group advanced and took a photograph of the flabbergasted audience. Some applause was however heard. At the time of the vote, the group finishes among the last so much and so that the 3 points which were allotted to them by the Greece missed being allotted by error to the Netherlands.
All this did not enchant the English company which employed them, Virgin Records, which tried to make them pass in the movement Néo-romantique. Ironic words of the song " We Are All Getting Old" either the things did not arrange.
For their third album, Sex , Telex required of the group étasunien Sparks to write the words to them. However, the group continued to refuse to play in concert, and to prefer to remain Anonym, current attitude from now on in the world of the Musique techno or artists like Daft Punk, but new in 1981. The fourth album of Telex, Wonderful World , was distributed little.
The work of Telex is known to have inspired ZZ Top for its album Eliminator (1983) and Afterburner (1985).
In 1986, Warner Brothers signed the group and left the album Looney Tunes . At that time, like the sound of the group had been taken again by many other groups, it turned to the Sampling and a more intellectual humor. " Temporary Chicken" , for example, is a song evoking the life of a desperate man not to find a emloi whereas he works part-time in a chicken costume. It was a social song, but so oddly presented that it was completely misunderstood. The album did not meet business success, in spite of the hit of discotheque " Spike Jones".
In 1989, the Telexes revisited their old pieces to arise them according to the sound House music and other kinds of music which they inspired abundantly. It resulted from it Rhythmes Automatiques , which had only little success, but which pushed Kraftwerk to launch out in the same step with The Mix in 1991. They put in 2005 the last key at a new album of ten pieces left in February 2006 at EMI. Heading " How C you dance " , it includes/understands a resumption of " I like the life " , song with which Sandra Kim gained the Eurovision contest of the song in 1986. OJ Bogaert (Technotronic) is also recipient in the project.
The first extract of this album is " One the Road Again" , taken again minimalist of the piece in an original manner composed and recorded by Canned Heat.
Telex in addition remixé a at the end of 2005 title of Depeche Mode, " With Bread That I' m Used To".
