Tascalusa
Tascalusa or Tuskaloosa or Tuskalusa was the chief of an Amerindian tribe which joined battle with the Spanish explorer , Hernando de Soto. (in language Choctaw, tushka means “warlike” and lusa “black” thus word for word “black Warrior”)
October 18th, 1540, of Soto and its forwarding find in front of a named summarily strengthened city Mavilla or Mauvila (undoubtedly near to the current town of Mobile). A converted Indian warns them that the city is full with warriors and weapons. One of its captains proposes in Soto to establish a camping outside the city, but of Soto refuses, it wants to place in Mavilla. The tribe of Mavilla, ordered by the Tascalusa chief, prepared a ambush inside the enclosure of the city. The Spaniards are trapped and must fight with heat to escape before managing to reduce the city in ashes. The battle lasts nine hours, eighteen Spaniards are killed
