Tartarin de Tarascon

Tartarin de Tarascon is a novel of Alphonse Daudet writes in 1872.

It describes the burlesques adventures of Tartarin, putative chief of the hunters of caps of Tarascon, energy to drive out the lion in Algérie. It is a naive hero, who leaves berner by not very scrupulous characters, even by itself throughout its voyage towards the Atlas. This history was inspired to him by his/her cousin Henri Reynaud, who told him his voyages at the time of his returns of Africa.

This novel has two continuations Tartarin on the Alps (1885) and Port-Tarascon (1890).

In Tarascon is visited the house of Tartarin and one can meet there Tartarin itself.

Several Film S, was drawn from this novel: in 1908,1934, and 1962. The last, put in scene by Francis Blanche, was interpreted by Alfred Adam, Jacqueline Maillan, Bourvil and Robert Porte.
