Saint Tarcisius is a Christian Martyr which would have lived in IIIe century in the Roman Empire.
One has very few elements on his life. Its existence is known for us only by one inscription being reproduced on the tomb of the pope Damase Ier, in the catacombs of Saint Callixte.
The text of this inscription is the following: " Tarcisius carried the sacraments of the Christ. At this point in time a troop of excited pressed it to show them to the irreligious people. He preferred to give his life rather than to show with these celestial mad dogs the membres."
Later, the Church gave it in example to the children of chorus.
Many Christian writers drew from these some elements of the fictionalized hagiographies, in particular Serge Dalens in the Crown of stones , published in 1980.
