Taillancourt

Taillancourt is a common French, located in the department of the Meuse and the area Lorraine.

Geography

Taillancourt belongs to the canton of Vaucouleurs which counts 20 communes. This last is located at the south-east of the department of the Meuse. Bordering on the Vosges in the south and Meurthe and the Moselle in the East, it has as an axis the Valley of the Meuse. One it call also “the Valley of the colors”.

History

The most former known lord is Pierre de Taillancourt (1175), his family had a strong house now disappeared.

Tallincuria will become Taillancourt, and will decide in Tayocoû patois; the inhabitants are called the Size-bottoms. " Tallancourt" in 1327 could come from the name of a Germanic man, or would come from Latin statio (stop of imperial post office) and cortis (field).

In 1673, the seigniory belonged, partly, in Sommievre, of Montbras. Formerly diocese of Toul, bailliage of Chaumont, prévôté of Vaucouleurs and Champagne (thus of France).

Places and monuments

- A laundrette built in the 2nd half of XVIIIe (Second Empire) and restored in 1853. Building of lengthened plan, preceded by a stone porch of size. It is covered with a roof made up of " tiles violons" also called " with impériale"

- a bridge of stones and steel beams spanning the " arm mort" from the Meuse, dating from XIXe

- The street Delle, towards North is made up of a beautiful alignment of doors charretières of XVIIIe. One finds there a house with the door pedestrian decorated with a cartouche.

- L' Saint-Gengoult Church goes back to 1760. The chorus and the bell-tower are de1841. It was rebuilt in 1860, with the site of that built in XVe.

- To also see 3 fountains going back to 1900.

- And a splendid house of guard barrier at the exit of the village opposite the castle of Monbras.
