Tafilalet
The Tafilalet is a historical area located at the South-east of the Morocco. The adjective corresponding is filali (or filalien when it is about the reigning dynasty). It is a whole of oasis which was traditionally points of arrival in the Maghreb of the Trans-Saharan caravans. Today Tafilalet corresponds to the province of Errachidia, old Ksar be-Souk. It forms part, since 1997, of the area Meknès-Tafilalet. Tafilalet suffered much from the establishment from a border algéro-Morrocan woman and tensions which occur periodically between the two countries.
Tafilalet played in the history of the country a leading role. Old the Sijilmassa saw being born in 1640 the Dynastie alaouite. The current king, Mohammed VI, belong to this dynasty: it is the downward direct one of Moulay Ali Charif, the first sultan and the founder of the dynasty filalienne or alaouite.
Tafilalet, it is also a shopping mall which was very important during many centuries. Principal door of the the Sahara, Tafilalet was used as place of exchange between North and the extreme South and it is by this area that the transit of the Or was carried out, of the spice S and the Esclave S towards the Sudan and large Guinea (coast of the gulf of Guinea).
The 118me promotion of the military special École of Saint-Cyr military school (1931-1933) bears the name of Tafilalet.
