Sylvie Daigle
Sylvie Daigle (born with Sherbrooke, the 1 {{er}} December 1962), is a Canadian athlete , practitioner the speed skating on short track.
Its sporting career
For its first competitions, in 1979, it takes part and triumphs with the Jeux over Canada, gaining the gold medal of the 500,1 000 and 1 500 meters. The following year, with the Olympic Games with Lake Placid, Sylvie Daigle is classified 19th of the 500 meters.In 1984, with the Winter Olympics to Sarajevo, it is classified 20th of the 500 meters, 25e 1 000 meters and 22e of the 1 500 meters. Two operations, in 1985 and 1987, intended to relieve of the pains to the knees, lead it to reorientate its career; also, in 1987, it decides to be devoted to the speed skating on short track, discipline allowed like sport of demonstration the following year to the Winter Olympics of Calgary. At the time of these plays, Sylvie gains the gold medal of the 1 500 meters, that of money of the 1 000 and 3 000 meters, and that of bronze of the 500 meters and the relay 3 000 meters.
Four years later, with the Winter Olympics to Albertville, the speed skating on short track is officially registered like Olympic test. Sylvie and the Canadian team gains the gold medal of the relay 3 000 meters, but consecutively with a collision with the American competitor Cathy Turner at the time of the preliminary round, it is only classified 18th of the 500 meters.
After these plays, it begins studies of medicine to the Université of Montreal, which it suspends in order to involve for a participation in the Winter Olympics of 1994 with Lillehammer, where it gains a money medal.
Sylvie Daigle leaves the universe of the speed skating after these plays in order to finish her studies and, in 1998, it obtains its diploma of medicine.
