History
Clock making industry Suisse made new great strides in 1984. This same year, pioneers ASUAG (Allgemeine Schweizerische Uhrenindustrie AG) and SSIH (Swiss Company for Clock making Industry SA) amalgamated to become SMH - Company Swiss of Micro-electronics and Clock industry SA. It was on recommendation of Nicolas G. Hayek senior, following a study entrepreuneuriale of its consultancy (HEAG). The head office of the SMH was with Bienne. The two technical originators of the Swatch, of which the strategic concept worked out by Nicolas G. Hayek made it possible to save the Swiss clock industry, are Elmar Mock, plastic engineer and Jacques Muller, engineer, specialist in the clockworks, both of Blanks SA, today ETA, manufacture of movements of Swatch Group. The creators of the design of Swatch are Marlyse Schmid and Bernard Muller, independent and whose company, Schmid Muller Design is in Chézard-Saint-Martin, Switzerland.
In 1998, SMH becomes Swatch Group to pay homage to the history of the small watch Suisse symbol of the European industrial reconquest.
