Sven II of Denmark

Born about 1020, Sven II Estridsen was the son of the Jarl Ulf and Estrid, the sister of Knut Large the. Its nickname Estridsen comes to him from the name of his/her mother. He became king with dead of Magnus Ier of Norway, king de Norvège and of Denmark, which indicated it to succeed to him in this last State, on which he reigned of 1047 with 1076.

Sven II strengthens the Christianisme in Denmark but will fail in its attempt at conquest of the England. It organizes the kingdom while resting on the Église and inserts Denmark in the western world by giving up the ideals conquerors of the Viking S. But its death was followed by one long period of internal conflicts.

It will have many legitimate and illegitimate children, including five wire which will be successively kings de Danemark:

  • Sven assassinated in 1097

  • Sigrid, married to Gottschalk, king of the Odobrite S killed the June 7th 1066

Sven II of Denmark dies the April 28th 1076.
