String quartet (Roussel)
The string quartet COp 45 is a work composed by Albert Roussel between 1931 and 1932, whereas it exceeded 60 years.
It is about a work written with the apogee of the career of the musician, composed one year after its third symphony and its Bacchus and ARIANE . It is dedicated to Henry the Ox. It is about sound alone Quatuor (whereas he composed three Trio S), its Chamber music limiting itself to a little less than 20 parts.
The first was given by it on December 9th 1932 to Brussels, by the Quartet Pro Arte.
Work comprises four movements and its execution takes approximately twenty minutes. Its atmosphere remains particularly austere.
