Streltsy

The Streltsy term (or Strelitz ) comes from the word " Strela" meaning " Flèche" , which was used before to appoint the archers.

Streltsy were soldiers of Infanterie created by the Tsar Ivan IV known as Ivan the Terrible between 1545 and 1550. The statute of Streltsy was transmitted of wire father. They constituted the first permanent infantry of trade in Russia. After the coup attempt of state of Sophie (sister of Pierre the Large one) in 1682 and their revolt of 1698, Pierre the Large one gradually dissolves the body of the streltsys until 1720 (date of their final liquidation).

They were equipped with firearms, sabers and an axe with two hands door and difficult to handle.
