Of the Street is a printer and a British manufacturer of Papier . The company was founded in 1821 by Thomas of the Street (born on March 24th, 1793 with the Forest, parish of the island of Guernesey).

Printing works is famous for the realization of banknotes and postage stamps for many countries, as well as card decks.

Evolution of the company

In 1958, Thomas of the Street became the Street Company Limited PLC , then Of Street PLC in 1991.

In February 1997, Of the Street buys Harrison & Sons and recovers the contracts of impression of British postage stamps of this company, activity installed a time in the buildings of Questa also repurchased in 2002.

Banknotes

Until 2001, Street was partner of the company lausannoise Of the Street-GIORI, world leader of the presses with banknotes, repurchased by Koenig & Bauer AG to become KBA-GIORI. In the years 2000, more than 150 currencies use papers of safety and the technology of impression of KBA-GIORI.

In December 1999, the bank natonale of Slovakia puts in circulation one second series of tickets of Slovak Couronne, by applying various security measures compared to the preceding series whose impression will amongst other things be carried out by Thomas of the Street.

Postage stamps

Street is also a printer of postage stamps. During the Second world war, for example, the company carries out the project of the '' Marianne '' of Dulac in version Taille-douce for the free France.

By repurchasing in 1997 the competitor printer Harrison & Sounds, Of the Street takes again the contracts of production of British postage stamps, of which the series of everyday usage to the standard '' Machin '', whose impression is carried out with High Wycombe. At the end of 2002, the activity Machin is moved with Byfleet in the buildings of Questa, to finish with Dumstable in 2005.
