Strada Nuova (Genoa)

The Strada Nuova is one of the main streets of the town of Genoa, residential zone of the 16th century close to the commercial center, a major street of the historical center for the architectural impact of its palates (located in the Rolli di Genova ) of which two (Palazzo Cambiaso in 1565, Palazzo Lercari-Parodi in 1567) are due to the architect Galeazzo Alessi.

Since 1550, it is known under the name of Via Aurea , and, at the end of the 19th century, Strada Maggiore then Strada Nuova . Madam de Staël allots even the qualifier of to him Rue of Kings (the Via dei Re ).

In 1882, it is famous Via Giuseppe Garibaldi in homage to the great man, actor of the Italian unification.

Of a 250 m length and a width of 7,5 m it is completely rectilinear and is registered with the Patrimoine of Humanity of UNESCO.

Palazzo Pallavicini Cambiaso
Built on the project of Bernardino Confines by the architect Galeazzo Alessi as from 1558 for the count Agostino Pallavicini, he passes to the Cambiaso family to the 18th century.

Palazzo Pantaleo Spinola (or Palazzo Gambaro)
Realization of the architect Bernardo Spazio for Pantaleo Spinola (finished by Pietro Orsolino).
Palazzo Lercari Parodi
Realized in 1567 by the architect Galeazzo Alessi.
Palazzo Carrega Cataldi
A project of Giovanni Battista Castello known as it Bergamasco for Tobia Pallavicino. Took part in its realization: Bartolomeo Riccio, Domenico Solari and Antonio Roderio.
Palazzo Doria
Project of 1563 by the architect Bernardino Confines for the Spinola, doges de Gênes
Palazzo Podestà
Realized between 1559 and 1565, by Giovanni Battista Castello known as it Bergamasco and Bernardo Confines for Nicolosio Lomellini.
Palazzo Cattaneo Adorno
Realized between 1583 and 1588 for Lazzaro and Giacomo Spinola.
Palazzo Doria Tursi
Realized in 1565 on a project of Domenico Ponsello and Giovanni Ponsello for Niccolò Grimaldi

Palazzo Campanella
Realized in 1562 on a project of Giovanni Ponzello for Baldassarre Lomellini.
Delle Palazzo Torrette
Project of Giacomo Viano for the duke of Tursi Giovan I Andrea Doria (nephew of the admiral génois Andrea Doria)

Palazzo Rosso
Realized in 1670 on a project of Pier Antonio Corradi for the Ridolfo brothers and Giovanni Francesco Brignole Salts.

In 1874, the duchess Maria of Brignole-Dirty of Ferrari gives it to the commune of Genoa so that it shelters a museum there.

Palazzo Bianco
Realized between 1530 and 1540 for Luca Grimaldi, it is bequeathed, also by the Maria duchess of Brignole-Dirty, with the commune, in 1884, to be also one of the museums of Via Nuova.
