Sting

Sting , of its true name Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner , born the October 2nd 1951 with Wallsend, close to Newcastle (northern of England), is a musician and British singer , and occasionally movie actor.

Biography

Wire of a slag (Ernest Sumner) and of a hairdresser (Audrey Cowell), elder of a family of four children, (a Philip brother, and two sisters Angela and Anita), it is impassioned early for the music, encouraged by his mother pianist amateur. It makes its first musical weapons with the Guitare but discovers also the Piano, the Mandoline, the Saxophone, the Harmonica and the Panpipes.

It started as bass player of Jazz the night whereas he was teacher the day. Having played one evening affublé of a pullover with yellow and black stripes, his/her friends musicians call it Sting, in English the dart or in the language running the bee .

It began as bass player and singer from the group from fusion jazz Last Exit, then is a world success within the trio The Police, founded in 1977. But, somewhat wearied by the interminable rounds of the Police force, Sting decides to leave the group (without there being official separation of the group) before engaging in a career solo starting from 1985.

Its first album, The Dream off the Blue Turtles , whose title Russians is an immense success in France, confirms the virtuosity of the fair singer to the voice perched high. In 2003, Sting leaves a new album, " Sacred love" , before leaving for a new world tour… This round will be the least best accommodated of all its career, obliging it to call itself in question… In 2005, it starts a round of the American universities with a group reduced to its minimum, before leaving in 2006 an album Classical music, " Songs From the Labyrinth", taking again the songs of John Dowland, accompanied by Edin Karamazov to the Lute.

Against any waiting, Sting announces in February 2007 that the group The Police reforms and starts a world tour. On September 29th and 30th 2007 at the time of the concerts at the Stade de France, The Police offered a pretty surprise to its fans, while making go up on scene Henry Padovani to take again " Next to you" with him. This French was the first guitarist of the group in 1977, before being quickly évincé about it.

Sting has Co-writing the piece Money For Nothing with Dire Straits and it takes part in many original soundtracks, such as Lethal weapon 3 in company of Eric Clapton ( It' S Probably Me ).

Sting is also a committed character: it took part in the creation of the Rainforest Foundation (to preserve the Amazonian virgin forest), at the sides of deferring Belgian Jean-Pierre Dutilleux, at the request of the chief kayapo Raoni. With his wife Trudie Styler, it is very actively engaged in its organization and its actions; it organizes each year in April a concert of charity.

In 1988 Sting took part in the great round of Amnesty International which passed in particular by Buenos Aires, New Delhi or Paris and London. During these Sting concerts was accompanied by Bruce Springsteen, Tracy Chapman, Peter Gabriel or Youssou Dour

Sting is a follower of the Tantrisme and in made publicity towards end of the year 90.
