Sternocleidomastoid muscle
The sternocleidomastoid Muscle is a even Muscle Cou, tended vertically, between the Clavicule and the Sternum in bottom and the Mastoïde of the temporal Os and the occipital Os in top. It is divided into two chiefs, the cléido-occipital chief and the cléido-mastoïdien chief. Its action allows rotation controlatérale and the inflection of the head.
It owes its sternocleidomastoid name of with the fact that it is attached to the Sternum ( sterno- ), with the Clavicule S ( cléido- ), and with the process mastoïde of the temporal Os of the cranium.
Its driving innervation is due to the 11th cranial Nerf . Its sensory innervation is ensured by the cervical Plexus.
Its blood irrigation is ensured by the occipital Artère and the higher thyroid Artère.
