A statistical (in opposition to the statistical ) is, with the first access, a Nombre calculated in connection with a Population. Generally, it is the result of the application of a statistical method to a unit of data. In the calculation of the arithmetic Mean , for example, the algorithm consists in calculating the sum of all the values of the data and dividing by the number of data. The average is thus statistics. To be complete in the description of the use of statistics, it is necessary to describe at the same time the procedure and the whole of data.
The statistics are also the study of the universe of all the processes (modeling, sampling, methods of calculating, devices of research) being used to answer the questions of research in various fields (biostatistic, epidemiology, econometrics, etc) in an optimal way. Moreover, the statistical inference allows (under certain very strict conditions) of inférer in a population starting from a sample.
The researchers in mathematics (statistical) work to work out new tools being used to test very precise assumptions. This science is in constant progression. Lastly, other statistical applications appear in drilling of data, imagery, etc…
