Star Wars (cartoon)

The cartoons Star Wars were published in French by Dark Horse France between 1996 and 1998, then by the company Delcourt starting from 1999. They translate the American Comics published by Dark Horse under license of LucasBooks. Delcourt republished the majority of the publications of Dark Horse France. Only some albums were not republished yet: Pierre de Kaiburr , the Old one of Gold of Sith , Empire of Sith , Lords of Sith , the War of Sith , Shades of the Empire - Evolution , Rogue Squadron and Tatooine - Battle field .

The saga Star Wars in data base is made up many series being held at various times of the chronology, as well as two-monthly magazine.

The series Marvel Comics

The very first cartoon Star Wars is the adaptation of first film; she is launched by Marvel concomitantly at the exit of this one with the cinema in 1977. Its realization begins whereas the film is still in phase of production and the authors (archie Goodwin and Al Williamson) have only of some photographs and a nonfinal synopsis. So one observes in the comic some elements which were not preserved at the screen.

The first 6 numbers contain the adaptation itself, then the series proposes new stories and continues until number 107 in 1986, supplemented by 3 year . She was mainly translated into France in Titans 18 to 95 (editions Lug) and in stitched albums of the same editor:

  • the Star Wars (Star Wars 1-6)
  • the Empire counter-attacks (Star Wars 39-44)
  • the return of Jedi (Marvel Super Special 27)

The mini-series Dark Horse

In 1991, Dark Horse takes again the license left with the abandonment by Marvel and is devoted to the development of the wide universe Star Wars, by adapting in particular the novels of Timothy Zahn and Michael A. Stackpole. It is specialized in the mini-series and it is this format which is selected for the Star Wars comics, it is also in this form that the prelogy will appear later.

In France, Dark Horse France publishes the translations in albums large size.
