Stans is a common Suisse of the canton of Nidwald, the town of Stans is the chief town of the canton.
Geography
The city is located in the valley of Aa, with the foot of Stanserhorn.
History
The Celto-Romans were the first colonists of Nidwald. Stans is mentioned for the first time in 1124.In 1713, the city was destroyed by a fire.
In 1798, the French troops invaded Stans
The construction of a2 highway disenclosed the south of the lake of the Four-Cantons and supported the economic development of this area.
