Squadron alStar

All-Star Squadron (or Squadron of the Stars ) is a team of superman of cd. Comics created by Roy Thomas, Rich Buckler and Jerry Ordway.

History

The title told the adventures of a team of Super-héros which was made up minor characters of the golden age of the comics. One found there of the member of the Société of Justice of America, of Freedom Fighters, the Seven Soldiers off Victory like some other heroes working in solo. Franklin Roosevelt, during the bombardment of Pearl Harbor, made convene of the heroes at the White House and their asked to work together in order to preserves peace in the country during the Second world war. At the time, several characters of the Company of Justice had been removed by super-unpleasant the Per Degaton, and the heroes available were charged to supervise the West coast of the United States, the president fearing a surprised attack. Degaton diverted Japanese weapons in order to prepare such an attack. The lately trained team thwarted the plans of Degaton and released the imprisoned members.

The Trylon and the Périsphere, which are used as HQ with the team, were built for the World Fair of 1939 to New York City. The majordomo of the team is a robot called Gernsback, pointing out the robots presented to the exposure, and whose name is surely inspired by Hugo Gernsback.

Leading history

The Squadron AlStar is the perfect example of the " continuity rétroactive". Indeed, the title completely rewrote the history of supermen cd. of the Forties. It was Roy Thomas which used for the first time this concept of " continuity rétroactive" (" retcon" in English) in the columns of AlStar Squadron #20 (April 1983).

In the beginning, the Squadron AlStar was supposed to exist on Ground-II, a ground on which the supermen appeared during the Forties. After Crisis one Infinity Earths and the fusion of the universes, he remained nothing any more but the characters suitable for the period " moderne".

In France

The first twelve numbers and the first annual of the series were translated in the 7 numbers of the review " The Squadron of Étoiles" published by Aredit/Artima. The numbers 14 to 20 were then translated in numbers 3 to 5 and 8 to 11 of the review " The League of Justice" same editor.
