Souesmes is a common French, located in the department of Loir-et-Cher and the area Center.

Geography

Located in the department of the Dormouse and Expensive, the town of Souesmes is located at 200 km of Paris, in the Sologne.

History

Here principal historical features having marked the city:
- Prehistoric and Gallo-Roman Occupation, Souesmes is on the Roman way of Avaricum (Bourges) with Cenabum (Orleans).
- " Sesmovico" , " Segimo vico" (currency mérovingienne), " Sissima" in 634, " Seisma" with 11th, then with various alternatives, current form: " Segosama" , very strong the, epithet one qualifying Belisama, Gallic goddess of the guerre.
- In 634, dependence of the Saint-Julien monastery of Auxerre; the church is then attached to the Saint-Taurin chapter of Ferté-Imbault.
- Joined together to the county of Blois in 1451, Souesmes entered the royal field in 1498 (Louis XII).
- Bloody Combat on June 17th, 1944 enters the resistant ones and Allemands.
