Sonata for piano n° 30 of Beethoven

The Sonata for piano n° 30 in semi major , opus 109, of Ludwig van Beethoven, was made up in 1820. The type-setter dedicated it to Maximiliana Brentano.

Music

It includes/understands three movements and six variations:

  1. Long-lived my nontroppo - Adagio expressivo

  2. Prestissimo
  3. Andante, molto cantabile idiot expressivo
  4. Variations I to VI

First movement

The first movement alternates a long-lived topic , composed of couples of double eighth notes in request/answer, and a serious topic, contrasting singularly. The extreme lightness and the examination of the exposure give the impression of a music planing in the air. When the second topic appears, as of the tenth measurement, the meter changes and the notes deviate between the low register deep and the acute ones perched, to use supplements it Tessiture piano of the time (the pianos of 1810 to 1820 oscillated between six and seven octaves). In spite of the gravity of the second topic optimism perdure still, until the réexposition, where music densified in spite of the return to the original meter in 2/2. The two topics still alternate to reach the réexposistion final, stripped, reduced to its more simple expression, played pianissimo and leading in crescendo on final rate.

Long-lived my nontroppo : measurements 1 with 5

Second movement

The second movement is upon the departure very dense, in the tonality of semi minor. It is a traditional Scherzo, prescribed prestissimo , in complete opposition with lightness and planing it of the first movement. The gravity of the topic and the very constant rate/rhythm of the movement plunge the listener in deep torments, after which the arrival of the third movement seems a delivery.

Prestissimo : measurements 1 with 8

Third movement

Finally the movement in Variation S proposes a topic mélodiquement very rich and whose harmony, in particular with the tenor voices and basic, do of it one of most required of the 32 sonatas. The variations gradually will complex the execution by subdividing measurements more and more and by densifiant the notation. The last of the variations, variation VI, passing from the double eighth notes, with thirty-second notes then with the trilles, including the left hand, encloses the whole by the reappearance of the original topic in cantabile , affirming the unit of work, expensive principle in Beethoven of the last years.

Andante molto cantabile : measurements 1 to 8, first part of the topic général
