Somua

The company Somua , acronym of the S ociété of O utillage M ecanic and of U sinage of has rtillery, is a French manufacturer of armored vehicles, Autobus and Motoculteur S created in 1914 with Saint-Ouen (Seine-Saint-Denis), and this firm is a division of the Société Schneider of Le Havre.

In 1930, a model of Camion were introduced with a half advanced Cabine, a Moteur Diesel and three Essieux, for payload from 10 to 13 ton S. And a lighter range from 5 to 8 tons of payload, were been driven by an engine with Essence, were also available.

Also in 1946, a new range were proposed, a named truck with advanced cabin: JL 15, with a diesel engine of 6 cylinders of 8.6 Liter S, of 130 Horses, a Transmission 5 speeds, 6 choices of Frame: of 6.30 Meter S with 10.89 meters, in 2 and 3 axles, and from 11 to 16 tons of payload. This range was available like road Tracteur, name: JL 15T, and also in configuration of bus, name: JL 15LO.

In 1955, Somua left a truck to cabin over engine, named: JL 19, in configuration of 2 and 3 axles, with a diesel engine of 6 cylinders, D 615 of 9.3 liters, a manual transmission with 10 Report/ratio S, of 180 horses, this model was also available out of tractor, and of 5 choices of frame and jusqu `with 26 tons of payload. Also in 1955 the branch Heavy truck S of Renault, Automobile Industrialists Latil and Somua amalgamated under the mark LRS which became Saviem.
