Solidarity funds FTQ
The Solidarity funds of the workers of Quebec FTQ , better known under the name Solidarity funds FTQ is a Québécois company of capital of risk which has its head office with Montreal. At May 31st, 2007, it managed credits of 7.2 billion [[Canadian dollar CAN]].
Resulting from the Federation of the workers of Quebec - the most important central trade-union in Quebec -, the Solidarity funds was created on June 23rd, 1983 by a law of the National Assembly of Quebec. The Funds has as a mandate to invest in companies which have an impact on the economy of Quebec and to stimulate the economy with advantageous investments for the workers-cotisants and the Small and medium-size companies. Its board of directors is directed by the president of the FTQ and the central trade-union names the majority of the members of the council.
The actions of the Funds can be resold before the retirement of the shareholder only under certain conditions - participation, job loss in a programme of possibility of home-ownership or permanent inaptitude with work
