Solent shorts
The Short Solent is a Hydravion produced by Short Brothers at the end of the Années 1940. Developed to leave d´un military model (the Shorts Sunderland Mark IV) left too late the assembly lines to be used during the Second world war.
History
The first flight of this model takes place in 1946 and it is produced jusqu´en 1949, mainly for the companies British Overseas Airways Corporation and Tasman Empire Airways Limited. D´autres airline companies minors will use models of second hand later a few yearsBuilt in Aluminum, it with l´origine was been driven by four engines Bristol Hercules (replaced on some models by Bristol Centaurus and could embark of 34 passengers and 7 team members in his initial version, jusqu´à 45 passengers to the maximum.
Solent, in the past used by TEAL on the road of the Coral connecting the islands of the south of the Pacific to the New Zealand at summer entirely restored and preserved to the Museum of Transport and Technology with Auckland. Another apparatus, acquired by Howard Hughes, is currently preserved at the Museum of Aerospace of the West of the the United States of America to Oakland.
