Sogdiane
The Sogdiane ( Sug `ud , Uzbek Sug `diyona in , Sughd in Inhabitant of Tajik, RTL Persan F سغد in , Greek name of origin) is a historical area partly recovering the Ouzbékistan, the Tadjikistan and the Afghanistan and including the historical cities of Samarkand and Bukhara and the irrguée valley of Zeravchan.
The Avesta, the crowned text of the Zoroastrisme, pre-Islamic Iranian religion, quotes Sughda- “Sogdiens, Sogdiane”, but it is unfortunately very difficult to date. It goes back in any case to a high Antiquity. Sogdiens seem to have been of the Scytho - Sakas sedentarized. The Sogdiens, of language Persan E, played Moyen-âge an important part of commercial intermediary along the Silk route.
After the arrival of the People Turkish, one calls rather the area Transoxiane.
