Software Concealment

Soft Concealment is a group of music of New wave (tendency Synthpop) of the the Eighties born from complicity between Marc Almond and Dave Ball, Marc writing the texts and Dave composing the music. Their larger success was Tainted Love .

Biography

Marc Almond and Dave Ball meet with Art School of Leeds. They decide to call them Duo Soft Concealment and give their first concert in the school of art at the end of 1979. Almond sings in a style “cabaret” and Ball is with the synthetizers, reciting also sometimes poems. Behind them films and slides are projected. They occur sometimes entirely naked. They leave an own-produced first 45 turns Mutant moment , the career of Software Concealment is launched. They are located by Stevo, founder of Some bizzare at the time of the festival Futurama II in Leeds. Their first recording for this label is The Girl with the Patent Leather Face which leaves on compilation Odd Some Album , where one also finds the first title of Depeche Mode.

They leave then a song become worship in the world and which will make known them Tainted coils (a Reprise again of Gloria Jones) which is a phenomenal success, being classified n°1 in seventeen countries. Thus four 45T will leave in one year, year when Soft Concealment is diffused on all the radios.

The Clip S will be carried out by Tim Pope. A first album Non Stop Erotic Cabaret is published in 1981, which became the album of success with all the hits of the time. A second album leaves in 1983: The Art off falling Apart . In parallel, Marc Almond entâme a career solo. It is constrained by the recording company to however leave a last album Software Concealment in 1984: Last Night In Sodom . The group dissolves the same year.

Several compilations and a box are born during the Années 1990. In 2000, the Duo is reformed to start a new round, followed by a new album in 2002: Cruelty Without Beauty .

The hit Tainted Love was in particular taken again by Coil, Inspiral Carpets, Milk Inc., etc the version of Marilyn Manson is an international tube. The Pussycat Dolls pushes the imitation until coupling the song with Where Did Our Love Go Supremes, exactly like had made Soft Concealment at the time on their maximum 45 lathes.
